We often automatically tune in on each other’s frequency.
Whether we want to or not, and whether we’re aware of it or not, we are very sensitive to each other’s moods and to the emotional atmosphere that exists between us. We change our expression to match the attitude we encounter. When we laugh, we laugh together and when we’re down, we drag each other’s spirits along.
It’s like we’re a stream that, once it reaches a larger river, ends up going along with the flow it meets. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We have the ability to swim up against the current if we wish to.
For that we need to be consciously aware of the surrounding ambiance and the way it influences us, and must decisively choose to create a different state of mind; to think happy thoughts whenever you find yourself in dark emotional surroundings.
Practice doing this until you’ve mastered it and you will be able to control your personal environment. And as such you will also be able to contribute to redirecting, or even revering, the flow of the overall current.
Instead of you automatically changing tone, be a beacon for others to follow and find brighter colors of their own. In an atmosphere where no one ever really chooses, you standing strong can potentially change the entire climate.
