We tend to always live up to a label
When it’s bestowed upon us or is claimed.
We either welcome or resist the fable.
We lose a part whenever we’ve been named.
It steals our unadulterated glory
When we adopt the role of what we’re not.
Be careful when you buy into a story.
See passed the character of what’s been taught.
It overtakes the will of pure intention;
Our honest motivation from within.
We’re hijacked by a stigmatized invention
When it’s allowed to crawl under our skin.
It’s time we start to fight the alteration
That redirects our actions and our mood.
Prepare to understand the fabrication
And change how we are mentally tattooed.
A branding needs the strength of our conviction
To manifest itself and to remain.
It’s only when we disbelieve the fiction
That we can tell what’s mean from what’s humane.
Our labels are the source of shared confusion.
They’re causing disarray when they divide.
See through this common classified illusion
To shed the tainting marks and reunite.
